District- Mohali, the emerging IT hub of India
Mohali district falls in the Malwa
region of Punjab. Mohali district of Punjab is emerging as an IT hub in North
India. There are many international-level companies in the Mohali district which
are helping to make Mohali an emerging IT hub in India.
Mohali
district (three tehsils of Mohali, Dera Bassi, and Kharar) was the first part of Ropar
(new name Rupnagar) and Patiala district, which was later recognized by the
Punjab government as the 18th district. The foundation stone of Mohali was laid
by the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Punjab Giani Zail Singh and was renamed
Sahibzada Ajit Singh Nagar after Sahibzada Ajit Singh, the eldest son of the
tenth Sikh Guru Gobind Singh. The name of Mohali district was once again
changed to Ajitgarh. The name has been changed so many times to create
confusion among the people about the name of the district. But the locals and in most parts of India the district is known by
the old name 'Mohali' and this name is very popular.
In
Mohali city, where there are historical and religious places, there are also
many interesting places that attract tourists. Among them is an international-level cricket stadium formerly known as PCA Stadium. However, it was renamed I.S. Bindra Cricket Stadium. It is world-famous as Mohali Cricket Stadium. The
highlight of the stadium is its lighting towers, which are shorter than the
rest of the stadiums in India because of its proximity to the airport.
Apart from this the most magnificent place in district Mohali is VR Punjab Mall
of Kharar tehsil and Thunder Zone Amusement Park on Mohali-Sirhind road which
attracts the people of Majha, Malwa, and Doaba.
Village
Chapparchiri is a historical site where Baba Banda Singh Bahadur fought a
battle with the Mughal tyrant Wazir Khan of Sirhind to avenge the martyrdom of
the younger Sahibzadas and laid the foundation of the Sikh rule in India. In
2011, a 100-meter-high Fateh Burj tower dedicated to the historic victory was
constructed at this place to commemorate the Battle of Chapparchiri. It was
completed in record time. There is a beautiful park and a small pond around the
tower. Statues of Banda Bahadur Ji and his 5 generals have been placed in the
park. This place is also known as Baba Banda Singh Bahadur War Memorial in
Punjab.
There are many religious places in the Mohali district such as Gurdwara Amb Sahib whose history is related to the sixth Guru Har Rai Ji. Gurdwara Sahib is planted with mango trees which bear fruit in all seasons. Gurdwara Sant Mandal Angitha Sahib is located at a distance of about 500 meters from Gurdwara Amb Sahib. Gurdwara Nabha Sahib has located in the village of Nabha, Zirakpur tehsil, whose history is related to the ninth Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Gurdwara Singh Saheed Sahib, whose history is related to the Anglo-Sikh war which was fought against the British throne. It was established in memory of about 500 Sikhs who were martyred in the war. This Gurdwara is located in village Suhna, very close to Mohali city. Apart from this, a Sikh Museum was inaugurated at the village Balongi in the district. Statues of various Sikh warriors have been installed in the museum.
